Blog Roll

I just updated the blogs I frequent over on the left hand column under "Need to Waste More Time?". You'll notice the name of the blog, followed by the title of their latest post and how long ago it was posted. If you read this blog and would like to be added - please leave me a comment and I will add you. Sorry if I missed anyone!

And while you're checking out blogs, make sure to head over to my baby blog to see Andy's latest picture!

Hi, my name is geefunk and I'm a twitterholic.

Why haven't more of you jumped on the Twitter bandwagon? Serio. Twitter is the safest way to stalk someone and I want to stalk YOU. You know who I'm talking to. My readers that don't ever comment...aka my family and most friends! I am very happy that Diana has finally joined. I am also very happy that Jessica and Mariela tweet way more now. I really do want more of you to open yourselves up to complete strangers...or just to me. It's so much fun. Trust me.

I love having a catalog of all my random thoughts and doings. Especially when I don't blog, twitter serves as a sort of micro-blog - like blogging one line at a time. I know a lot of you follow me thru the twitter updates on my blogs....secrectly...*cough*angelica*cough* So come on! Join! You can even make your updates private so only those YOU choose can read them. You can approve who wants to follow you. Join! Its so much fun to tweet from your phone or computer. Try it out...and if you don't like it...then delete your account. It's easy as pie. But remember to go follow me when you join!
Still unsure? You can also use Twitter to get your daily dose of breaking news or tabloid trash updates. Almost every media source is currently using Twitter - i.e. I follow cnn, BreakingNewsOn, E! news, and TMZ [and a few others]. Get updates sent directly to your phone. I think this one of the best aspects of Twitter.

Come on! Do it! Do it! Do it!

Mommy Movie Monday

Today I went to my first Mommy Movie Monday at the Krikorian Theater in Old Town Monrovia. The lights aren't completely turned off, the sounds is turned down just a notch, and babies and young toddlers are free to roam. Andy and I were joined by Diana and her sweet daughter Lara. The movie was at 10am and I was very sleep deprived, but after some coffee and just plain excitement of returning to the movies woke me up. The movie of the week was Ghost Town. It was very funny and touching. One of the few movies that has made me laugh out loud. Then it got sad, and I cried...thank gawd Diana was also on the verge of tears. Didn't feel so stupid.

Our kids were little angels. Even Lara, who Diana says usually has to be chased around, just sat close by and kept quiet for the most part. Andy woke up halfway thru and ate and starred at the giant people. He was so amused by the giant screen. I fear his love of television is growing.

After the movie we grabed lunch at a sushi restaurant near by named Mikomi. Really good sushi at a decent price [pricer than my fav spot Ichima].

Every time I hang out in Old Town Monrovia I love it more and more. It's so quaint and far from the over-crowded streets of Old Town Pasadena [my 1st home]. The best part is the free parking! 90 minutes on the street, and sections of 3 hour and 8 hour parking in the lots located on the side streets. My goal is to make it to the Monrovia Family Festival and Farmer's Market that happens every Friday from 5pm to 9pm. I have a wedding to attend this Friday, but hopefully next Friday will work.

It was a lot of fun and I can't wait to do it again next week! Thanks Diana!

Legalizing Weed in California?

This is a controversial topic, but just so you readers know...I'm all for it.

There is a good chance that there will be an initiative on November's ballot to vote on legalizing weed in California. It would be sold in stores that currently sell alcohol and tobacco [weed would finally be included in the same category as alcohol & tobacco]. You would pay an extra tax for the purchase which would help create more revenue for California. If you want to sell it in your store, you would just have to buy a $5 stamp [anonymously] for an eighth ounce of weed. A $50 annual license would be required to grow one plant.

I do think these fees are low. Considering how much can be made thru the growth and sale of weed, I think California should get more money out of it. Especially considering the financial crisis we are in.

Caffeine Buzz

These two were made for each other. How I missed making espresso at home. I bought some illy espresso coffee at Fresh & Easy and it is the best! I have tried many different brands of espresso and this beats them all...of course...right? At almost $13 a can it is expensive, but oh so worth! I love sipping espresso from my little espresso cup & saucer set from Crate and Barrel. My sister loves it too and I can't wait for her to come over so we can enjoy it together.

Side note: I had 3 espresso cups....and....um...yeah....I thought my head might explode. It felt so weird. At least I'm not sleepy!

I mentioned Fresh and Easy. It a grocery store in our neighborhood. It reminds me of Trader Joe's and Costco put together. I love it! They sell their own brand food, but also normal stuff you would find at any grocery store [i.e. lunchables, Lays chips, Coke, Tide, Corona]. Prices are great. It's pretty small and there are only self check-out stands. I like them. It is not a one-stop shot for me, but it's on my way home when I take Foothill and it is defintiely worth the stop. I'll still be at TJ's [which is about 3 blocks from me] but I like being able to find national name brand items at a competitive price along with other specialty items.

A month? No way!

Can I use this for an entire month?

I can't believe it's been almost a month since my last post here. I always think of things to blog about, but finding the time to actually write out posts is tough. I've also been reading a lot lately. I had stopped for a while, but now I'm really into reading during my free time [instead of my usual watching crappy TV]. I'm hooked on the books by Emily Giffin. I have a whole bunch of other books lined up. Pretty much all chic-lit right now. I need the light reading right now. I have some heavier stuff sitting on my book shelf, but I can't tackle that just yet.

What else has been happening? In all honesty, taking care of our new baby is all I have time for. Most of the time I'd rather be do nothing [aka watching crappy tv] when Andy is napping. Now I read. So internet time is sparse these days. But 6 weeks into this new routine I am finally settling in. Now I actually want to be out and about with Andy instead of wasting my days away. This may be because my maternity leave is quickly coming to an end. I have settled on an exact return date, but it's looking like it may be October 6th. That would take me back to work just shy of my 12 week allowance. I mostly want to go back because we really can't afford to leave on one full paycheck and one 60% [disability]. Sad...but true. If it was up to me...I'd TOTTALY be a SAHM [stay at home mom]. I would LOVE it. Serio. Never get bored. I have so much I could be doing every day. :-p Being a mom is hard work! I get it now.

So no promises, but I hope to blog more often. Even my baby blog has been neglected with all my reading.
